The Arachnid War is the war between the JSDF and the Empire against the Alien bug-like Arachnids that invades the Special Region to consume its biomass and resources. It takes place after the international sabotage of the Gate.
After the Gate opens to the homeworld of the Arachnid, the Hive Mind of the Arachnid commands its Warrior Bug to attack the Special Region in which all primitive weapons of the Imperial army are useless against the hard exoskeleton of the Arachnid. Moreover, despite having advanced weaponry and managing to kill a couple hundreds of Arachnid, the JSDF cannot handle swarm-like vast number, which was proving far too much for even firearms can handle.
After the Arachnid manages to slaughter thousands of citizen of the Empire as well as JSDF. Lelei was forced to close the Gate to prevent more calamity.
Prelude to War[]
While the International sabotage of the Gate is happening between Japan and Chinese invaders and Imperial allies, another Gate appeared, this time, the gate was connected to to the Arachnid homeworld. The Hive Mind responded by sending the hive towards the Special Region.
War[]
The Arachnids, with their superior defense, weapons and numbers and wave tactics, easily overwhelmed the weakened Imperial troops and poised to attack the JSDF base in Alnus.
The Arachnids eventually attack the Alnus JSDF base, suffering casualties, but their numbers proved too much for the defenders and most of them, including those members of Alnus Mercenary Brigade, were decimated.
Lelei used a spell to close the Gate, preventing more Arachnid forces flooding in, but in turn, stranding the few remaining JSDF personnel in the Special Region, including Itami and his group.
Aftermath[]
The Gate was closed, cutting off the Arachnid hive from sending more troops, but also cutting off the remaining JSDF units in the Special Region. The survivors reorganise their position, after clearing up remaining stray Arachnids.
It took 4 years to reopen the Gate, when the coast is clear.
Another story happens, when a group of JMSDF troops travel Alnus, with another set of characters on a mission to rescue a foreign journalist lost in Special Region.
