The Special Region Resource Investigation Teams are five teams of five personnel per team. Each team consists of one JSDF soldier and four Special Region locals. As their name states, the purpose of these teams is to survey the area of the continent of Falmart surrounding Alnus for mineral deposits and other natural resources. The units are deployed as a preliminary recon unit to gather data from local knowledge and team observations, in order to direct the allocation of specialized geologic teams to precisely map mineral deposits.
The teams use mostly Special Region locals, presumably in order to save manpower and possibly also to serve as interpreters and guides.
Equipment[]
SRRIT teams are equipped with a single Toyota High Mobility Vehicle for transportation purposes. At least in the case of Special Region Resource Investigation Team 101, some of the Special Region natives are trained in its operation.
The JSDF personnel asssociated with the SRRITs are issued a Howa Type 64 battle rifle equipped with a low-power scope as a primary weapon, along with a Minebea P-9 sidearm, as well as fragmentation grenades and at least one Type 06 rifle grenade. A Panzerfaust-3, presumably intended for anti-dragon or anti-fortification purposes, is also carried in the vehicle.
While JSDF personnel wear standard uniforms, SRRIT Special Region personnel wear standard civilian clothing and are armed with weapons typical of the region, including swords, axes, polearms, bows, and crossbows.
